Mathis W. Mateus, OD graduated from the Liberal Arts Honors program at Providence College with a B.S. in Biology (Cum Laude). After completing his undergraduate degree, Dr. Mateus attended the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. While at NECO, Dr. Mateus was President of Beta Sigma Kappa, the Optometric Honor Society. He was also awarded the Dr. Robert Allard Compassionate Clinical Award on recommendation from the faculty, as well as being selected to attend a New Graduate Conference - reserved for the top five contact lens students in the class. He was awarded the first annual Zenni Eye Care Access scholarship in recognition of his dedication to serving patients in underserved communities. His clinical rotations included training at Dimock Health Center, the NECO Center for Eye Care, VA Medical Center - Bedford, MA, DotHouse Community Health Center, and Tallman Eye Associates, where he was trained by Dr. Tom Pappavaselio, MD, and Dr. Yianni Panagiotopoulos, OD
Dr. Mateus enjoys practicing primary eye care, and treats and manages a wide variety of patients and conditions - including diabetes, dry eye, glaucoma, contact lenses, and pre-and post-operative surgical patients. He is licensed in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Dr. Mateus is the proud son of an immigrant, and speaks English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
In his free time, he enjoys playing/watching soccer and exploring the New England outdoors with his partner Bailey, and his dog, Scoops.
